The University of Bergen (UiB) has planned a detailed and comprehensive welcome for incoming international students. The welcome includes introductory activities, important information, contact information and much more. A few highlights are listed here. Please see the web site listed below for more details.
UiB’s welcome programme for incoming international students begins 4 August and runs for five days until 9 August. During this time the incoming international students will be introduced to the campus, the city, Norway, the Norwegian language and other useful and fun activities. August 11 is the official opening of the university. Activities and information is centred at Grieghallen, the large concert building in the centre of town. In addition to the opening ceremony at 11:00, the faculties, university services and student organisations sponsor booths in the Grighallen lobby and second floor. It is a unique opportunity to find information and make contacts. All are welcome.
The international students are then invited to join with the incoming Norwegian students for their introductory week activities 11-16 August. This week is called “mentor week” and all new students are divided into mentor groups that interact together as the students learn about the university and each other.
